The Lithuanian company Lifosa was founded in 1963 as an exclusive producer of the phosphate fertilizer for the local and the European market. It produces nitrogen-phosphorus fertilizer Diammonium Phosphate (DAP), phosphoric acid and sulphuric acid, aluminum fluoride and feed phosphates. The company’s factory is located in Kedainiai which through a separate railway branch is connected to all parts of the country as well as to the ice-free Klaipeda port – an important part of the exporting process. Since the year 2000 the process heat from the factory plant is used beneficially utilized to heat the dwelling houses and other Kedainiai city objects.
