ProCredit Bank Kosovo was the first bank opened in the post-war period in Kosovo. It was established in January 2000 under the name Micro Enterprise Bank of Kosovo by six international financial institutions and private companies.
The list of investor included German investment fund ProCredit Holding, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), German Commerzbank, German export credit bank - Kreditanstalt fur Wiederaufbau (KfW), World Bank's private sector arm, the International Finance Corporation and Dutch development bank FMO.
Micro Enterprise Bank of Kosovo was part of a network of 18 banks in developing countries in Eastern Europe, Africa and South America, set up by international financial institutions to support the growth of small private enterprises.
The bank was renamed to ProCredit Bank Kosovo in 2003, after it was acquired by ProCredit Holding.
The Kosovar lender provides general banking services to a diverse customer base that includes large corporations, small and mid-sized businesses and individuals. It attends its clients through a branch network of over 60 outlets across Kosovo.
