Capro Corporation, located in Seoul, is the only manufacturer of Caprolactam in South Korea. It was established in 1969 and began its historic first production in 1974, introducing a new horizon to the domestic petrochemical industry by manufacturing and supplying nylon raw materials that were previously dependent on imports. Under clear management principles of unity, responsibility, productivity improvement, and technological development, Capro has continuously conducted research and development and expanded its facilities. It has grown into a global company that produces over 270,000 tons of Caprolactam annually, with the construction of its second factory in 1989, Cyclohexanone factory in 2000, and third factory in 2004. Capro is determined to continue challenging itself and open a sustainable future where nature and people coexist, based on its accumulated technological expertise and know-how. Caprolactam is produced using cyclohexanone, ammonia, sulfur, and other main raw materials obtained from crude oil. It is used as a raw material for nylon fibers used in various industries such as clothing, tire cords, fishing nets, and carpets, as well as for the production of machinery parts and engineering plastics. Capro produces approximately 270,000 tons of Caprolactam annually in both molten and flake forms, accounting for about 80% of domestic consumption. Caprolactam is supplied to major domestic nylon producers, with approximately 90% consumed in the production of nylon 6 fibers and 10% in engineering plastics. The overall consumption of Caprolactam shows a gradual increase of 2-3% each year.
