The Company is a mobile telephone operator in Kenya. It offers pre-paid roaming, prepaid services, data and messaging services, such as SMS, SMS2Email, WAP, GPRS, multi-media messaging and automated phone settings, information services, voice services and top-up services, including scratch cards/vouchers, virtual airtime, ATM top ups and airtime transfers. The company also operates retail shops in Nairobi, Mombasa, Nakuru and Kisumu in Kenya, as well as operates a dealer network to handle distributing and selling of its services and products.

History:
1997:The Company was incorporated on 3 April 1997 under the Companies Act as a Private Limited Liability Company
2002: The Company converted into a public company with limited liability on May 16, 2002.
2008:The Company Listed on Nairobi Stock Exchange in 15 April 2008.
2018:The Company changed its name from Safaricom Limited to Safaricom PLC with effective from 31 January, 2018.
