Caribbean Cement Company Limited (Carib Cement) is located in Kingston, Jamaica. It was incorporated in 1947 and began operations on January 28, 1952. The company produces and exports high-quality Portland cement using raw materials sourced from within ten miles of the plant. Carib Cement benefits from its location in Rockfort Kingston, which provides access to indigenous raw materials and a natural harbor for importing coal and exporting cement and minerals. The company has its own ports for shipping its products abroad. Carib Cement has undergone expansions over the years, increasing its clinker capacity to 600,000 tonnes. In 1999, Trinidad Cement Limited Group (TCL Group) acquired the majority shareholding in Carib Cement. In 2009, the company completed its Expansion and Modernization Program, expanding its plant capacity to 1.3 million tonnes of clinker per annum and 1.8 million tonnes of cement per annum. In 2015, CEMEX increased its shareholdings in TCL to 39.5% and further increased it to 69.83% in 2017. CEMEX is a global building materials company operating in over 50 countries.
