NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Limited (NVVN) is a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Ltd, located in Delhi. It was formed in 2002 to explore the potential of power trading in India. NVVN holds the highest Category 'I' power trading license according to the latest CERC regulation. NVVN is involved in various business initiatives, including green initiatives. It has been appointed as the Nodal Agency for Phase I of the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM), responsible for purchasing power from solar power projects and selling it to distribution utilities. NVVN is also an expert PSU for rooftop solar projects and actively participates in tenders for solar projects. In addition to power trading, NVVN is engaged in cross border trade of electricity with Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Nepal. It exports 710 MW of power to Bangladesh and supplies up to 350 MW of power to Nepal. NVVN has also been designated as the Settlement Nodal Agency for grid operation related charges with neighboring countries. NVVN plays a crucial role in meeting the power demand of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. It supplies 15 MW of DG power, fulfilling approximately 40% of the islands' power requirement. NVVN is also implementing a 50 MW LNG Power Project in the islands to reduce diesel consumption and provide clean power. Furthermore, NVVN is venturing into the e-mobility segment by providing vehicles and related services. It actively bids for e-mobility projects from various authorities and organizations. NVVN is actively seeking opportunities to expand its business portfolio and diversify into new lucrative ventures.
