Egyptian Electrical Cables is a shareholding company founded in 1954 by seventeen shareholders including two French companies (Electro Cables and Trefileries Luminaries Duhauro). In the early sixties, the company was nationalized and became a public sector entity. The year 1997 witnessed the privatization of the company when a distinguished group of strategic investors decided to buy out the majority of shares held by the Holding Company and consequently ECE is currently operating under law 159 for the year 1981.
The company operates in the electric components sector. The Company is a manufacturer and distributor of power and telecommunication cables and wires in Egypt and abroad.
Egyptian Electrical Cables is the largest diversified cables company in Egypt. Approximately two thirds of its revenues are derived from power cables sales to the electricity sector. The company exports to Africa, Europe, as well as Arab countries. It was listed on Cairo and Alexandria Stock Exchange on 30/03/1995.
