Cairo Oils and Soap was established in 1953 as a state owned company. It is engaged in the manufacture, processing, packaging, import, export and distribution of different types of seeds for the production of oil and soap. It extracts oils from cottonseed, soya beans and sunflower seeds and produces cooking oil, washing soap and detergents. The company has four factories located in Cairo: El Aiat Refinery for edible oils; El Badrashain Crushing Factory for oil extraction and the production of animal fodder; Ghamra Factory manufacturing soaps and detergents; and El Kanater El Kaireya Factory for vegetable ghee and shortening.
