Distribuidora Farmaceutica Ecuatoriana S.A. (DIFARE) is a group of Ecuadorian companies that are dedicated to the development of the pharmaceutical market in the country, specialising in the distribution and the supply of products for the local pharmacies. The company was established in 1987 in Guayaquil, Republic of Ecuador and it is a subsidiary of Holding Grupo Difare Cía. Ltda., also headquartered in Ecuador. In 1995 the company expands its operations and opens offices in Quito and Cuenca. The DIFARE Group has three business divisions: Distribution, Pharmacy Development and Product Representations. The Group is comprised of its own pharmacies and franchises under the trade names ¨Pharmacy´s¨, ¨Farmacias Comunitarias¨ and ¨Cruz Azul¨. Through strong partnerships with pharmaceutical laboratories, the Product Representations Division develops national and international brands, among which are Menticol, Mentol Chino, Lacteol, Cipran, among others. The business units through which it produces are: Pharma, OTC Consumption and Stein. The company has a technology company Desarrollo Integral de Soluciones Empresariales DIRES S.A., which aims to develop innovative solutions for the improvement of the corporate business. Likewise, DIFARE has integrated the ¨Neptuno¨ system in order to administer pharmacies. FEDIFARE, an Educational Foundation, was founded in 2004 with the purpose of offering academic programs for people working in the pharmaceutical sector.
