Zapa Beton A.S. is a company located in Prague, Czech Republic. It was founded in the early 1990s as a small business with a few employees. Initially, the company produced concrete at batching plants. The first traditional concrete plant operated by Zapa Beton was in Prague, specifically in the Kačerov area. Due to financial reasons, the company's initial expansion mainly involved renting older facilities and gradually modernizing them. The first market in the Czech Republic was Prague and the Central Bohemia region, while the first center in Moravia was the concrete plant in Hulín. Zapa Beton quickly acquired new facilities and became one of the leading producers of ready-mix concrete in the Czech market during the 1990s. At the end of the same decade, Zapa Beton became part of the structure of the German conglomerate Dyckerhoff, which later became part of the multinational group Buzzi from Italy. This holding company focuses on cement and ready-mix concrete production and operates in Europe, Russia, the United States, Mexico, Brazil, and North Africa. This integration into a larger group provided Zapa Beton with capital stability and further growth opportunities. In 2003, Zapa Beton became a company with 100% foreign ownership. It gradually strengthened its position in the Slovak market, where it has been present since 2001, and also operates in the Hungarian market. Zapa Beton is also a producer of aggregates. The production at Zapa Beton is carried out at individual centers, including concrete plants and aggregate production facilities, divided into regions of Bohemia and Moravia. The same regional division applies to the company's trading activities in the ready-mix concrete sector. The company's management, including economic and administrative control, is centralized. Zapa Beton does not have any branches or other parts of its business abroad. As of the beginning of 2023, Zapa Beton operates 52 concrete plants, 2 quarries, and 1 sand pit in the Czech Republic. It also operates 2 additional concrete plants through its subsidiaries. In Slovakia, the company operates 13 concrete plants and 1 gravel pit. Zapa Beton also has a gravel pit operating under its name in Hungary. Zapa Beton is one of the founders and active members of the Association of Concrete Producers in the Czech Republic. Its subsidiary, Zapa Beton SK s.r.o., is a member of the Slovak Association of Ready-Mix Concrete Producers. These are professional interest associations consisting of the most significant companies in the industry.
