Coomeva Medicina Prepagada S.A. is a company located in Cali, Colombia. It was founded on March 4, 1964, by 27 doctors from Valle del Cauca, including one woman, under the leadership of pediatrician Uriel Estrada Calderón. Initially, the company provided savings and credit services to doctors in the region, but it has since expanded to include professionals from all disciplines, as well as technicians, technologists, and their families throughout the country. Coomeva Medicina Prepagada S.A. is part of the Coomeva Cooperative, which provides unity of purpose, direction, and control to the companies within the Coomeva Group. The cooperative started with 400 members in its first year and now has over 255,000 members and their families. The company has received recognition for its organizational management, including the Gold Award at the 2016 Ibero-American Quality Award in the Private Company category. It was also the first organization in the Solidarity Economy sector to receive the Colombian Management Quality Award from the Presidency of the Republic in 2011.
