Acerías Paz del Río, S.A. commenced its activities back in 1948 as "Empresa Siderúrgica Nacional de Paz de Río”. It adopted its current name back in 1957. The company is primarily engaged in exploration, exploitation and tranformation of coal, limestone and ferrous minerals into steel and derivative products. Currently, the company is responsible for more than 30% of the total production of steel in Colombia.
