The Company operates a mobility technology platform that provides various mobility and other services in the People s Republic of China, Brazil, Mexico, and internationally.
It offers ride hailing, online taxi, chauffeur, hitch, and other forms of shared mobility services; leasing and refueling solutions; electric vehicle charging services; and bike and e-bike sharing, intra-city freight, food delivery, and financial services. The Company is also developing an autonomous driving solution.
The Company operates business in three segments: China Mobility, International and Other Initiatives. The Company s China Mobility segment accounts for the vast majority of our total revenues. The Company s International segment consists of the Company s businesses outside of China, and the Company s Other Initiatives segment comprises the Company s new initiatives.
HISTORY
2012 - The Company commenced the Company s operations in 2012 through Xiaoju Technology and launched the Company s DiDi Dache app to provide online taxi services.
2013 - The Company was incorporated under the laws of the Cayman Islands on January 11, 2013
2015 - In February 2015, the Company acquired Kuaidi through a merger agreement entered into between DiDi and Kuaidi pursuant to which Kuaidi was merged with and into DiDi, with DiDi continuing as the surviving company.
2016 - In August 2016, the Company acquired Uber (China) Ltd., or Uber China, in exchange for the Company s issuance of the Company s Series B-1 preferred shares in DiDi.
2017 - From January to June 2017, the Company purchased certain preferred shares of 99 Taxis, a company engaged in the business of providing ride hailing services in Brazil, for an aggregate consideration of US 37.5 million in cash.
2021 - In June, the Company further renamed it company as DiDi Global Inc.
- On June 30, 2021, the Company s listed the Company s ADSs on the NYSE under the symbol “DIDI.”
- The Company s initial public offering in the United States was completed on July 2, 2021.
2022 - On June 13, 2022, the Company s ADSs were delisted from the NYSE.
- The Company s ADSs have been quoted on OTC Pink under the symbol “DIDIY” since June 2022.
2023 - The Company entered into a strategic cooperation in August 2023 with XPeng Inc., pursuant to which we conditionally agreed to sell certain smart auto business to XPeng Inc. in consideration of class A ordinary shares issued by XPeng Inc. The initial closing of the transaction was completed on November 13, 2023, following the satisfaction of the applicable closing conditions, with additional closings contemplated if the sold business achieves certain milestones.
