China Merchants Port Group Co., Ltd. is a company based in Shenzhen that is primarily engaged in the development, construction, and operation management of container terminals, bulk cargo terminals, and port-related businesses. The company owns the important import and export port area in South China, namely the Chiwan Port Area, along with its supporting port service enterprises. The construction of the Chiwan Port Area began in 1982, and after undergoing a shareholding reform in 1993, it was integrated and restructured into Shenzhen Chiwan Wharf Holdings Limited, which was listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange. With its advantageous geographical location, steady and pragmatic business philosophy, unique management model, excellent management team, and substantial investment returns, Chiwan Port has been favored by domestic and foreign investors since its listing. In 1996, it successfully obtained the ISO9002 international certification, becoming the first port enterprise in China to receive this certification. In 2002, Chiwan Port was ranked 89th among China's top 100 listed companies. In 2003, it was ranked 70th, and in 2004, it was ranked 60th. In September of the same year, it was included in the sample stocks of the Shenzhen Component Index for the first time. The fertilizer unloading volume exceeded 1.95 million tons. Dongguan Chiwan Port Services Co., Ltd. was officially established and started construction. It was selected as a constituent stock of the Shenzhen Securities Index for the first time.
