Empresas Sutil S.A. is a company located in Santiago, Chile. It was founded in March 1982 by Juan Ignacio Sutil Servoin. The company initially started as a brokerage office, specializing in agricultural products through its brokerage office, Sutil & Cía. In 1983, Victor Moller founded Hortifrut S.A., and Juan Sutil S. joined as a partner. Together, they developed the company, which later became the leading berry producer in the Southern Hemisphere and the world's main producer of blueberries. In 1992, Pacific Nut Company Chile S.A. was founded as one of the first exporters of nuts in Chile, starting with the export of walnuts, almonds, raisins, and D'Agen plums. In 1995, Empresas Sutil acquired ownership of the former Agricultural Cooperative Graneros, now known as Coagra S.A., acquiring its first cooperative rights. In 2005, Empresas Sutil took control of Coagra by acquiring more than 50% of the company's shares. In 2002, Viñedos Juan Sutil was founded, which later became Viña Sutil and Top Wine Group S.A., with its operations based in the Colchagua Valley, VI Region. In 2009, Empresas Sutil sold 12.30% of Hortifrut to the Möller Opazo and Swett Opazo families to reorganize its businesses, consolidate control of its subsidiaries, and capitalize on future growth. In 2010, Empresas Sutil and the Sánchez Errázuriz family re-founded Champiñones Abrantes S.A. They also initiated the agricultural financing project Banagro S.A., which promotes the development of the national producer and the Chilean agro-export industry. In 2012, through Coagra, Empresas Sutil consolidated part of the agricultural input distribution industry by acquiring Agrícola Quillota and TodoAgro, completing the territorial expansion of Coagra branches from the V to the X Region. In 2015, Empresas Sutil acquired control of Frutícola Olmué SpA, one of the leaders in frozen berry exports and the world's leading frozen asparagus producer, following an invitation from the Hassler Tobler family to re-enter the berry industry. In 2019, due to growth and a focus on the group's fruit business unit, Top Wine Group was divided, creating Agrícola Sutil S.A., which consolidates the agricultural-fruit operation. It is a professional fruit operator with a planted area of 1,700 hectares under its own management. In 2020, Empresas Sutil defined, as part of its strategic plan, the certification of all the companies in the group as B Corporations, aiming to become a reference in the national agribusiness and contribute to addressing the global climate and social crisis.
