Echeverría Izquierdo S.A. is a construction company located in Santiago, Chile. It was founded in October 1978 by Fernando Echeverría Vial, Álvaro Izquierdo Wachholtz, and Francisco Silva Johnson. Initially, the company focused on small remodeling projects, house repairs, pool constructions, tennis courts, and other minor works. In the 1980s, after a severe crisis in the country, the company started undertaking high-rise building projects, specializing in reinforced concrete techniques. Echeverría Izquierdo distinguished itself from the competition and developed its own unique style. In 1987, Bernardo Echeverría Vial joined the company as a partner. In 1988, VSL Sistemas Especiales de Construcción was established as a representative of VSL International and became its subsidiary in 1995. VSL became a leader in post-tensioned slabs, retaining walls, and related engineering in Chile and Argentina. In 1989, the company entered the market of special foundations and created Pilotes S.A., which successfully introduced new technologies. In 1998, Pilotes Terratest was formed through the merger of Pilotes S.A. and Terratest Técnicas Especiales from Spain. Today, it is a leader in geotechnics and foundations, offering products such as post-tensioned anchors, micropiles, gravel columns, soil nailing, among others, and is a recognized leader in Chile and Peru. Over the years, the company has undertaken larger projects, including office buildings, residential complexes, and commercial centers in downtown Santiago and the El Golf area. In 1996, the construction company changed its name to Echeverría Izquierdo, Ingeniería y Construcción. That same year, Echeverría Izquierdo, Inmobiliaria e Inversiones was created to manage real estate projects. In the following years, this division developed residential projects in the Metropolitan Region of Santiago, downtown Concepción, and some in the V Region of the country. In 1998, Echeverría Izquierdo, Montajes Industriales was established, with Darío Barros Ramírez joining as a partner. The company has a significant presence in the industrial assembly and infrastructure construction markets and is a key player in the mining, energy, petrochemical, and cellulose sectors. In recent years, the company has also entered the concessions sector, particularly focusing on underground parking projects. In 2007, Echeverría Izquierdo S.A. was created as the holding company. In 2011, Echeverría Izquierdo S.A. acquired 100% of the shares of Echeverría Izquierdo Montajes Industriales, with Darío Barros R. becoming a partner in the holding company. In the same year, Echeverría Izquierdo Perú was established to expand business operations in industrial assembly, construction, and real estate in the neighboring country. In August 2012, the company went public, raising US$88 million for a 25% stake. The expansion process showed results in 2013, as all Echeverría Izquierdo subsidiaries had a presence in Peru for the first time. In the same year, the company acquired the entirety of Pilotes Terratest Chile and Peru to strengthen the Engineering and Construction unit. Additionally, it acquired a 51% stake in Nexxo S.A., a company specialized in industrial maintenance and chemical cleaning, expanding its range of industrial services. In 2017, Pablo Ivelic became the corporate general manager, and in 2018, the company increased its stake in Nexxo S.A. to 72%. With over 40 years of recognized experience, Echeverría Izquierdo has participated in the most prominent projects in its industry in Chile.
