Chilquinta Energia S.A. is a Chilean company engaged in power generation and distribution in the Fifth Region. In 1889 was founded the Chilean Electric Tramway and Light Co. and in 1919, began operations in Santiago The National Power Company Electric. From the merger of these two companies, was created on September 1, 1921, the Chilean Electricity Company Ltd., known as Chilectra Ltda. Through the last two, expands its coverage area to the regions of Maule and Bío Bío. Meanwhile, in 1998 begins the distribution of natural gas in the Valparaiso region, creating for this purpose, the subsidiary Energas S.A. Later Chilquinta Energia SA is transferred by its parent Chilquinta SA, Sociedad de Inversiones Sempra-PSEG Chile Ltda The consortium, formed by U.S. companies Sempra Energy International and PSEG Global, broad global experience in electrical distribution services and natural gas, making the control of the property in June 1999. Eight years later, in December 2007 the company PSEG Global transfers 100% of its interest in PSEG Americas, owner of 50% stake in Chilquinta Energia SA, society AEI Chile Holding Ltd., which is indirectly last acquired 50% stake in Chilquinta Energia S.A. On April 6, 2011, the Group acquired AEI Sempra Energy all the shares of the Company, which, as of that date, is the sole owner and controller Chilquinta Energia.
