The Bolsa Electronica de Chile (BEC), located in Santiago, was founded in 1989 as the first electronic stock exchange in Latin America. Its main innovation was the implementation of a fully electronic trading system, allowing brokers to trade remotely and in real-time from their own offices. The BEC aims to be a fundamental agent and promoter of the local and regional stock market development by introducing new products and services. In 2011, the BEC achieved a significant expansion by partnering with the U.S. stock exchange NASDAQ, adapting its sophisticated transaction systems to the Chilean market. As a result, the BEC became the fastest processing stock exchange in Latin America. The BEC's main purpose is to facilitate financial intermediation through various activities such as buying and selling financial instruments. It connects buyers and sellers to finance different types of businesses. Since its inception, the BEC has been known for offering innovative services that meet the changing needs of the market. Its products and services adhere to the highest international standards and strict security regulations set by the Superintendence of Securities and Insurance.
