The largest pension fund manager in Chile, AFP Provida, is engaged in investment and collection of contributions of its members, administration of individual capital accounts and delivery of disability and life insurance as well as retirement products to complement pensions. It operates a network of 59 branches throughout the country. It also has participation in pension fund managers operating in Peru, Ecuador and Mexico. It was founded in 1981 and is headquartered in Santiago. The company was acquired by MetLife, Inc., from the hands of Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria S.A. (BBVA) in 2013.
