Sociedade Abastecimento De Agua E Saneamento S.A. (SANASA) is a company located in Campinas, Brazil. It was founded on March 14, 1974, with the regulation of Decree No. 4,437. SANASA is a publicly traded mixed economy company, with the municipal government as its majority shareholder. The company is committed to the United Nations' 2030 Agenda through the fulfillment of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 6, Water and Sanitation for All. SANASA is part of the United Nations Global Compact CEO Water Mandate, the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), and the Ethos Institute. Through these organizations, the company reinforces its commitment to sustainability and the environment. Considered a pioneering company, SANASA has always been at the forefront of sanitation projects, making the citizens of Campinas proud. It was the first municipal sanitation company in the country to use ultrafiltration membranes. There are two stations that utilize this technology, the EPAR CAPIVARI II and EPAR BOA VISTA Water Reuse Production Stations, which produce a reuse water with a quality grade of 99%. With the completion of the EPAR BOA VISTA, Campinas has reached the installed capacity to treat 100% of sewage, making it the first city with over five hundred thousand inhabitants to achieve this capacity. SANASA also operates 21 Sewage Treatment Plants (ETE), 118 Sewage Pumping Stations (EEE), 5 Water Treatment Plants, and 2 Raw Water Intake Stations that extract water from the Atibaia and Capivari Rivers, which supply water to the city of Campinas. The company has been elected four times in a row by the Saneamento Ambiental magazine as the largest and best municipal sanitation company in Brazil. This recognition is largely due to the work and quality of its operational staff. SANASA has adequate equipment in its laboratory to meet the potability standards required by the Ministry of Health's Consolidation Ordinance No. 5. Campinas has one of the best water supplies in Brazil. It was one of the first companies in the country to add fluoride to treated water, which helped in the fight against tooth decay. To achieve this quality, the company has always invested in water research and treatment technologies. The SANASA Central Laboratory is composed of a specialized technical team and high-cost measurement devices that allow the analysis of substances and microorganisms, with the objectives of safety, speed, and, above all, quality control. SANASA also develops social programs within the community. In this area, the company seeks to raise awareness and educate participants about environmental and sanitation aspects, with an emphasis on the water supply and sanitation system, through the "Minha Escola na SANASA" program, which serves the school community at all levels of education (infant, primary, secondary, technical, higher, postgraduate, etc.). The "SANASA na Comunidade" program promotes community engagement with the aim of sensitizing the population to assume a more responsible, sustainable, and participatory role in sanitation systems and the environment. The work is carried out with an interdisciplinary team and appropriate methodologies for each of its projects, developed through a broad partnership with public and private facilities, community leaders, and civil society organizations, service providers in the municipality, especially in the areas of health, education, and social assistance. In addition, the SANASA Water Knowledge Center presents an exhibition project that proposes a space for non-formal education with a structure for various activities, the main one being the Interactive Water Museum, which aims to raise awareness and engage visitors in the topic of water through an interactive, playful, and metaphorical experience. The city's basic sanitation rates place SANASA among the largest companies in the country. Currently, it provides piped drinking water to 99.84% of the population, collects and removes sewage from 96.42% of the population, and treats 90.04% of the city's sewage. This is Sanasa Campinas, which, over these 48 years, has built its greatest asset: the credibility of the brand among the population and the transparency of a company that is the pride of the city. It brings more health and better quality of life to Campinas.
