Established in 1947, Guararapes started as a clothes store in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte state. In 1979, the company acquired the store chain Riachuelo, expanding its performance area to the retail trade. Fifty eight years after its foundation, Guararapes Confecções has 3 plants in Fortaleza, Ceará state and 5 plants in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte state. Besides Riachuelo, the group also invested in a new entreprise - Shopping Midway Mall - a shopping center located at Natal.
