Zarneni Hrani Bulgaria is part of the blue-chip industrial group Chimimport. The company was set up through the merger of eight other affiliates of the industrial holding. Zarneni Hrani trades with grain and oil seeds, produces vegetable oil-based products and bio-diesel as well as providing financial and technical support to agricultural producers.
February 2009, Zarneni Hrani acquired local mill Golyama Dobrudzhanska Melnitsa for BGN 20 million (EUR 10.2 million). The mill was bought from the grain and seeds trader Bulgarian Mills. Golyama Dobrudzhanska Melnitsa was the third biggest mill in Bulgaria at the time of the deal, with a capacity of 240 tonnes of grain per day.
In August 2009, Chimimport transferred its stake in the company to its wholly-owned subsidiary Chimimport Group at the amount of EUR 49.1 million as a part of the reorganization within the group.
In December 2012 Chimimport Group merged into Zarneni Hrani Bulgaria.
