Yuzhnotsentralno Darzhavno Predpriyatie DP, located in Smolyan, is a state-owned enterprise registered on June 29, 2011. The altitude ranges from 100 meters along the Maritsa River to 2,198 meters at Golyam Perelik peak. This wide range supports a rich diversity of plant species and various animal species. 428,852 hectares (60%) of the state forest territories fall under the "Natura 2000" management regime. The main tree species include 31% Scots pine, 16% Norway spruce, 8% black pine, 19% oak, and 15% beech. The total standing timber volume on the state-owned forest territories managed by Yuzhnotsentralno Darzhavno Predpriyatie DP is 149,120,416 cubic meters, with an annual increment of 2,230,770 cubic meters. The average age of the forests is 71 years. The forest management plans of the territorial divisions foresee an annual utilization of 1,375,259 cubic meters of standing timber from accessible basins, which represents 61.6% of the annual increment. The annual afforestation covers an area of 116 hectares. The planting material is produced in 34 forest nurseries, including 7 of national importance.
