St.Ekaterina UNMHAT is a specialized hospital for active treatment of heart diseases, established in 1977. In 1984 the hospital was modernized and converted into a well-equipped cardiac surgery. In 1986, the first heart transplantation on the Balkan peninsula was done in this hospital.
St. Ekaterina hospital was registered as a joint stock company in 2000. It offers diagnostics, treatment, rehabilitation in the field of cardiovascular diseases. As a university hospital, it is alco active in researches and student training.
