The oil company acquired control of 93.8% in the refinery after two buyout offers placed by its European unit in early 2005. In 2006 LUKOIL also started producing biodiesel. For the period until 2010 LUKOIL has invested in the refinery in Burgas over USD 1 billion in reconstruction and modernization projects.
