Litex Commerce was established in 1990 in Lovech and is a diversified financial group active in the following fields - trade in sugar, electricity production, fuels trade, construction, production of motor vehicles, agriculture, transport and logistics, accommodation and tourism. In 2002 the headquarters was moved from Lovetch to Sofia. The firm, which claims to have invested some EUR 250 million in the country, is controlled by local mogul Grisha Ganchev.
In 1998, Litex Commerce signed a 25-year contract with Anglo-Dutch oil major Royal Dutch Shell for the lease of Litex own network of 35 petrol and gas stations - the largest private chain of petrol stations in Bulgaria at the time.
Litex Commerce bought a 25% stake in Sofia's central bus station for EUR 2.3 million from the Sofia municipality in mid-July 2007. The acquisition raised the company’s stake in the station to 62.5%.
May 2009, a subsidiary of the company – Litex Motors signed a contract with one of China's biggest automotive manufacturers Great Wall Motor to build an assembly plant. The factory, which is located near the town of Lovech, launched production in February 2012.
