Bulgaria's textile manufacturer Katex, which was founded in 1848, has an annual capacity of 3.5 million metres of ready-made fabrics.
The company, based in the central town of Kazanlak, has a full production cycle, from greasy wool to fabrics.
Katex produces and sells washed carded wool, worsted wool tops, yarns for knitted and woven fabric cloths.
Its production features over 150 articles with different composition, structure, weight and application, including fabrics with lycra.
The company production consists of pure wool and blends with high percentage of wool.
Katex exports some 90% of its production abroad – mainly to Germany, Denmark, Spain, France, the United States and Russia.
In early 2007 the listed company sold its 10.13% stake in Economic and Investment Bank (EIBank) for BGN 15.3 million.
In February 2008, local company Ekspresproekt-2003 acquired a 36.82% stake in Katex for BGN 899,920.
