Gotse Delchev - Tabak was incorporated in 1993 after the restructuring of state-owned tobacco company Bulgartabak into a holding structure with 22 subsidiaries. The main activity of the company is purchasing, storage and trade in tobacco.
In August 2007, Bulgarian-based household appliances retailer Prestige Business-93 bought 78.3% of Gotse Delchev Tobacco from state-controlled tobacco group Bulgartabak Holding. The package of 753,062 shares was sold for BGN 2.3 million (EUR 1.16 million) in a closed auction that attracted two bidders.
