Citibank Europe, part of Citigroup Inc, opened a representative office in Bulgaria in November 1998. In July 2000, the bank opened its first branch in Bulgaria's capital city Sofia. The branch offers corporate and investment services including debt products, structural corporate finance, capital structuring, advisory services on mergers and acquisitions, treasury and asset management. It services almost exclusively big corporate clients, government agencies, multinational companies and financial institutions. Bulgaria was the 10th country in central and eastern Europe, where the Citibank had operating branches.
