Austrian retail store chain Billa, a subsidiary of German giant Rewe Group, set foot on the Bulgarian market in 2000 and has opened 21 hypermarkets throughout the country by the end of 2006.
The hypermarket chain invests an average of EUR 5.0 million in the construction of stores that usually span over 2,000 to 3,000 square metres and offer some 12,000 durable and non-durable goods.
Billa's principal categories of products include perishable products, edible goods, non-food goods, beverages, and health and beauty aid goods.
Billa sells a range of food items, including fresh products, baked goods, fresh meats and poultry, cold cuts, dairy and frozen seafood, beverages, prepared foods and other edible goods.
Its supermarkets also offer a variety of specialty services, including full-service bakeries, prepared food departments as well as meat and seafood departments.
The company's supermarkets offer several product groups under Billa's own label Clever. The Clever label covers several categories, including dairy products, sugar, rice, vegetable oil, canned and frozen food, soft drinks, toilet paper, as well as kitchen and bathroom cleaners.
The company operates more than 100 outlets throughout the country.
