Allianz Bulgaria, which was established in 1991, is one of the biggest players on the Bulgarian insurance market.
It is a successor of local insurer Bulgaria - the country's first private insurer launched after the fall of the communist regime in 1989.
The general insurance carrier was the first unit of local financial conglomerate Bulgaria Holding Ltd., which later grouped another general insurer Enegria, a life insurance company, a pension insurer and a bank.
In November 1998, German insurance group Allianz AG signed an agreement to acquire a 51% stake in Bulgaria Holding for an undisclosed sum.
In January 1999, the holding was renamed into Allianz Bulgaria Holding.
Allianz Bulgaria general insurance offers a diversified portfolio of individual insurance, annuity and group products through agents, direct sales representatives as well as independent agents and brokers nationwide.
Currently, Allianz is running 42 outlets and over 100 representative offices nationwide.
