Aftab Automobiles Limited, formerly known as East Pakistan Automobiles Limited, is a company located in Dhaka. It was incorporated as a Private Limited Company in 1967 with the purpose of assembling Toyota Land Cruiser vehicles. The company's assembling plant is currently situated in Fouzderhat Heavy Industrial Estate, Chittagong, covering an area of approximately 12.33 acres. In 1981, Aftab Automobiles Limited became a Public Limited Company and is now the largest assembler and progressive manufacturer of Toyota and Hino vehicles in the private sector of Bangladesh. The company's main activities include vehicle assembly and bus-body fabrication. Since 1982, they have been successfully assembling Toyota and Hino vehicles for the Bangladesh market. Aftab Automobiles Limited is listed on the Dhaka Stock Exchange Limited and Chittagong Stock Exchange Limited. Their principal activities involve assembling Toyota Land Cruiser soft top/Pick-up, Land Cruiser Prado, Hino Bus, and Hino Mini Bus/Truck, with a yearly production capacity of 2400 units of vehicles in 3 shifts. The company also has a subsidiary called Navana Batteries Limited. Currently, Aftab Automobiles Limited is primarily engaged in assembling and body fabrication of HINO luxury buses, specifically the RM2 model, which is in high demand in the market. HINO buses are widely operated in all routes of the country. The company has also introduced an environmentally friendly CNG-driven AK1JMKA model HINO Bus in Bangladesh for the first time. Navana Batteries Limited, a fully owned subsidiary of Aftab Automobiles Limited, has recently introduced motorcycle batteries to increase profitability. Additionally, HINO luxury buses are also operating in international routes such as Dhaka-Kolkata-Dhaka and Dhaka-Agartola-Dhaka. The company has modernized its Bus Body Building Unit by introducing high-tech equipment, ensuring international quality standards for vehicles, including the new model RM-2 buses, which are painted using fully automated processes.
