The railway system in Bosnia and Herzegovina consists of two companies, the Railways of Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ZFBiH) and Republika Srpska Railways (ZRS). ZRS was established in 1991 as Zeljeznice Srpske and the company was renamed Zeljeznice Republike Srpske after the signing of the Dayton peace accords. The total route length operated by the company is nearly 500 kilometers. The railway operator carries out some 70 trips per day, out of which 80% are passenger trips. Its main stations are Doboj (495,000 passengers), Banja Luka (125,000 passengers), Prijedor (93,500) and Novi Grad (58,500).
