UniCredit Bank AD Banja Luka, which began operations in 1911 under the name Banjalucka Banka d.d. Banja Luka, is among the oldest financial institutions in Bosnia's Serb Republic. It turned into a joint stock company in 1989 and in 2002 the bank was renamed to Nova Banjalucka Banka AD. In December 2005 Bank Austria Creditanstalt, , acquired an 83.27% stake in Nova Banjalucka Banka AD for BAM 57.81 million. Bank Austria became a member of UniCredit Group in November the same year and was later renamed to UniCredit Bank Austria AG. One June 1, 2008 Nova Banjalučka Banka AD began operations under the name UniCredit Banka AD Banja Luka. Italy-based UniCredit Group, which is present in 22 European countries and has over 9,000 branches across the globe, operates two other companies in Bosnia and Herzegovina - UniCredit Bank d.d. and UniCredit Leasing. UniCredit Bank AD Banja Luka operates a network of 45 branches across the Serb Republic. The bank’s shares are traded on the Banja Luka Stock Exchange (BLSE).
