Sberbank banka d.d. began operations in 2000 under the name Volksbank BH DD as the first Western-European bank in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was majority-owned by Vienna-based Volksbank International AG. In Bosnia Volksbank International AG also acquired Zepter Komerc Banka, located in Bosnia’s Serb Republic, in 2007, and renamed it to Volksbank a.d. Banja Luka. In 2012 the Bosnian lender was acquired by Russia's Sberbank and was renamed to Sberbank Banka d.d. It provides financial services to small and medium enterprises, especially those with import-export orientation, as well as representative offices of foreign companies and private individuals. The bank operates a network of over 25 branches nationwide.
