RMU Banovici d.d. is a profitable company with a reputable presence both domestically and internationally. Located in Banovici, the company is involved in the production, processing, and sale of coal. They produce over 1.5 million tons of separated coal, including various sizes such as cubes, nuts, beans, fine I, and fine II. The company consists of six organizational units: two production facilities for surface coal mining and underground coal mining, railway transportation, coal separation, standards and services, and management. Surface coal mining is conducted using modern and highly productive excavation machinery, as well as dump trucks for transportation within the mines and to loading ramps. Underground coal mining utilizes the latest technology, including mechanized longwall mining with remote control. This modern production capacity significantly increases production and contributes to the humanization of work. It is one of the largest investments in the history of underground mining, with a value exceeding 23 million KM. The railway transportation unit is responsible for transporting coal from the production facilities to the coal separation unit. They have a large number of locomotives, wagons, and complete infrastructure and maintenance capacities. The coal separation unit is responsible for granulating and processing coal. It has two loading points, one for trucks and the other for railway wagons. The standards and services unit serves as a central facility for worker catering and hospitality services. It includes central and operational restaurants, a workers' club, the "Zlaca" hotel, and land reclamation. The mining management unit serves as the headquarters for the administration and professional services organized into sectors, which provide technical support to the production units. In terms of markets, the company sells its entire production both domestically and internationally. Approximately 70% of the coal is sold to the Tuzla Thermal Power Plant. Export accounts for around 17% of the total sales, with 5% being direct exports and 12% being indirect. The remaining 11% of coal is sold to customers in general and wide consumption. The mine currently employs 2,798 workers, including 217 highly skilled personnel, accounting for 7.5% of the total workforce.
