Izdavacko Preduzece Svjetlost D.D. Sarajevo is a leading ophthalmology institution in the region that provides comprehensive services. It is known for its high standards of technical support and human knowledge, constantly demonstrating the latest technology in ophthalmology practice. Svjetlost in Sarajevo started operating in June 2011 as a branch of the parent company, Special Hospital for Ophthalmology - Clinic for Eye Diseases of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Rijeka, Svjetlost in Zagreb. Branches were subsequently established in Banja Luka, Split, Budva, and Skopje. Today, Special Hospital for Ophthalmology Svjetlost in Sarajevo is part of the largest ophthalmology clinic chain in the region with a recognizable brand. Due to the increasing number of satisfied patients, the quality of services, and the growth in the number of employees, there was a need to open another Special Unit of Svjetlost in the heart of Sarajevo, at Bolnička 8A, Općina Centar. The Sarajevo center is designed based on similar centers of medical excellence worldwide. The doctors are top experts with tens of thousands of surgical procedures behind them, approaching each patient individually and seeking the best possible solution for them. The Sarajevo center has two fully equipped operating rooms where surgical treatments for eye diseases can be performed, such as laser vision correction, ultrasound cataract surgery, vitrectomy surgery, glaucoma surgery, eyelid plastic and reconstructive surgery, crosslinking, six clinics, a diagnostic center, a preoperative preparation room for patients, and a sterilization room. Other surgical procedures can be performed at the clinic in Zagreb, such as surgeries caused by macular degeneration or degenerative changes in the retina, strabismus surgery, and corneal transplantation. Most eye surgeries are performed as part of a day hospital, where patients are able to go home half an hour after the procedure (known as one-day surgery). Special Hospital for Ophthalmology Svjetlost believes in the education and training of young doctors, so every year they employ several new doctors who have the opportunity to specialize in ophthalmology. In addition to fully covering the costs of specialization, doctors have the opportunity to attend prestigious international conferences and visit the most renowned ophthalmology centers, where they can acquire new knowledge and stay up to date with the latest advancements in the field.
