Bh-Gas d.o.o. (Bosnia and Herzegovina)

Bosnian state-owned gas company BH Gas, which was set up in September 1997, is responsible for the import, transportation and sales of natural gas to large customers across Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In April 1998, BH Gas and local Energoinvest signed a 20-year agreement with Hungarian oil and gas company MOL for the delivery of natural gas.
Over the past few years, BH Gas and Russian gas monopoly Gazprom's export arm Gazexport have held several rounds of negotiations on rescheduling some USD 105 million in debt for natural gas deliveries accrued during the 1992-95 civil war in Bosnia. In January 2005, BH Gas agreed gas supply deliveries with Gazexport until July 1, 2005 and said that talks to settle the war time debt should be concluded within by the end of the year.
BH Gas posted KM 10.9 million profit for 2003 on higher sales and the weak U.S. dollar.
Its operating profit totalled KM 6.18 million, while its revenue of KM 68 million beat 2003 target by 16%.
BH Gas plans to import between 360 and 370 million cubic metres of gas in 2005 and 400 million cubic metres in 2006 due to increased demand from major domestic metal plants. The Lithuanian-owned Birac alumina plant, based in the eastern town of Zvornik, is the main client of BH Gas, consuming between 40% and 50% of all imports.
Other major consumers include the Mittal Steel foundry in the central city of Zenica and the Sarajevo-based gas retailer Sarajevogas.
