ArcelorMittal Prijedor is an iron ore mining company majority-owned by steel and mining company ArcelorMittal. In 1916, Austrian mining companies established the first industrial production of iron ore in Bosnia’s Prijedor area. Those mines were nationalized in the 1950s and were then owned by Iron Mines Luubija. A 51% stake in them was acquired by Mittal Steel (later ArcelorMittal) in 2004. ArcelorMittal Prijedor company exercise mining rights over 2,000 hectares supporting ArcelorMittal’s steelmaking operations located approximately 243 kilometers south of Prijedor in northern Bosnia (Zenica). The company’s production process includes crushing with hydro-cyclones and magnetic separation at the concentration plant. ArcelorMittal Prijedor produces over 2 million tonnes of aggregated lumps and fines annually.Its product range include hot rolled products (rebars, wire rod, mesh, lattice girders, classic construction armature) mainly for the Balkan, EU and North African markets.
