Electricidad Argentina (EASA) was created in 1992, with the objective to participate in the privatization of the electricity sector in the country. It acquired the majority stock package of Edenor S.A. (51%). The latter company was granted a monopoly in electricity distribution in the northern zone of the Federal Capital and the Northwest of the Greater Buenos Aires, for 95 years. In 2017, a merger by absorption took place between Central Térmica Loma de la Lata ("CTLL"), as the absorbing company, and Electricidad Argentina S.A. ("EASA") and Integración Energética Argentina S.A. ("IEASA") as absorbed companies.
